Farmaajo, Roble eulogize prominent Somali cleric Sheikh Muhyadin Eli
GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: President Farmaajo and Prime Minister Roble have issued statements on the death of renowned Somali cleric, Dr. Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Muhyadin Eli, who died last night in Mogadishu after falling sick a couple days ago.
Farmaajo sent a message of condolences to the family, relatives and the entire Somali nation, hailing Muhyadin Eli as an outstanding religious scholar, and one of the forefront-runners in the country’s education.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilahi raajicuun. My condolences to the family, relatives and the Somali people at large on the passing of Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Muhyadin Eli. “He was one of the pillars of the Somali Ulema who dedicated their time and lives to spreading the religion, awakening and educating the Somali people,” said a statement from Villa Somalia.
Prime Minister Roble also extended his condolences to the family, friends and the Somali people at large on the passing on of Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Muhyadin Eli.
“I offer my condolences to his family and to the Somali people at large on the death of Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Muhyadin Eli in Mogadishu. He was one of the country’s leading clerics and scholars who played a key role in spreading Islam, peace and raising awareness. I pray to God Almighty to grant Paradise to his family, friends and the Somali people and give them patience and faith,” said PM Roble.
Sheekh Shariif Muhyaddin Eli was 88 years old upon his death yesterday, having served as an active member of Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a.
Sheikh Shariif also served as chairman of the Islamic Sharia Implementation Committee in Northern Mogadishu in the 1990’s.
