Farmaajo’s top spy Yasin Farey elected MP in Galmudug
GOOBJOOG NEWS|DHUSAMAREEB: Villa Somalia backed candidate Yasin Abdullahi Farey who was appointed as acting national intelligence chief was this afternoon elected MP in the ongoing Lower House elections in Galmudug state.
Farey won the race with 65 votes while his opponent Mohamed Ali Ulusow secured 20 votes. It was not immediately clear what happened to the remaining 10 candidates. Three votes were spoiled adding to 91 the votes cast out of the total 101.
Farey previously served as Banaadir regional intelligence boss before he was picked by outgoing president Mohamed Farmaajo to head the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) in acting capacity.
It was not immediately clear if Farey resigned his position as intelligence chief as per the electoral guidelines issued by the Federal Indirect Elections Team (FIET) which required public servants and members sof the disciplined forces to resign at least one week before the elections.
