Favori LLC Denies Allegations After Reports of Staff Arrests in Mogadishu

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Favori LLC, the Turkish-linked company that manages operations at Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu, has issued a public statement rejecting allegations circulating on social media after weekend reports claimed several of its senior staff members had been arrested by Somali authorities.
In a statement, the company said it continues to operate “in full compliance with the applicable laws of the Federal Republic of Somalia and aviation regulations,” adding that it maintains close cooperation with relevant government institutions.
Favori also said claims targeting the company and its management were “unfounded,” without directly addressing reports of arrests or specifying the nature of the allegations.
“Our company, Favori LLC together with its entire management team, continues to operate in full compliance,” the statement said, while reiterating its commitment to ensuring Somali civil aviation meets international standards.
The statement comes after several Somali media outlets and social media accounts reported over the weekend that senior officials from Favori, including managers at Aden Adde International Airport, had been detained by authorities in Mogadishu. Independent confirmation from Somali security agencies had not been immediately issued by the time of publication.
The reports have fueled renewed scrutiny of Favori, which has operated the capital’s airport since 2013 under a long-term concession agreement.
This is not the first time the company has faced controversy. In September 2024, a Turkish national employed by Favori was detained following allegations of labour misconduct and abuse of Somali workers.
Favori’s latest statement, issued in both English and Somali, appeared aimed at reassuring the public and aviation stakeholders amid growing online speculation.
Somali authorities had not publicly commented on the matter as of Monday morning.
