GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The federal government of Somalia is seeking to improve the working environment of its federal parliament through renovations at Villa Hargeisa, a key parliamentary complex in Mogadishu, as efforts continue to strengthen the country’s legislative institutions.

The improvements are aimed at providing modern office facilities for parliamentary leaders and committees responsible for drafting legislation and overseeing government activities.

House of the People Speaker Abdulqadir Mohamed Nur visited the complex on Sunday to assess the progress of renovation and maintenance work.

He called for the project to be completed efficiently and to the required standards, saying improved facilities were essential for parliament to carry out its constitutional responsibilities.

Villa Hargeisa houses offices used by parliamentary leadership and committees, making it an important centre for legislative and administrative activities.

The renovation forms part of wider efforts to modernise Somalia’s parliamentary infrastructure as lawmakers work to strengthen legislative procedures and institutional capacity.

The project also reflects the growing need for functional parliamentary facilities to support committee meetings, legislative scrutiny and other activities central to government accountability.
