Federal Member States Urged to Prioritize National Interests
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal Government of Somalia’s president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has stressed the importance of prioritizing national interests over political considerations to ensure the prosperity of the nation.
In a statement issued through the Villa Somalia, president Mohamud urged regional leaders to refrain from “politicizing crucial matters such as unity, independence, sovereignty, national security, and the safety of citizens.”
The president reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to an unbiased partnership with regional administrations especially in key areas such as economic growth, development initiatives and management of humanitarian efforts.
He further stressed the importance of forging a united approach to tackle these fundamental issues for the benefit of all Somalis people.
The president added that his government is committed to strengthen relations with all the federal states of Somalia “based on constitutional principles and mutual interests.”
The statement underscores the continued achievements by the federal government in enhancing national security, undertaking a comprehensive constitutional review, deepening federalism, and fostering economic development.
The federal government has also made progress in areas such as the lifting of arms embargoes and efforts toward international debt relief to attract foreign investments crucial for economic stability and growth.
