FGS allied militia gather in central Somalia ahead of renewed offensive against Al-Shabaab

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MUDUG: Hundreds of clan militias allied with the government gathered in Baadweyn in Mudug region on Friday ahead of renewed offensives to flush out remnants of Al-Shabaab fighters in the area.

Federal Government forces and Galmudug State paramilitary leaders met with the militia where they discussed planned operations in Galmudug State as the government prepares to wind down operations in central regions.

The allied militias under the Ma’awisley umbrella have been fighting alongside government forces and have liberated several towns and villages in Mudug, Galgadud, Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions.

The second phase of the offensive is expected to move southwards to South West and Jubaland states.
