FGS deploy troops to SW state to boost the security ahead of the election
The security situation of Baidoa the headquarter of the southwest state was tightened ahead of the presidential election on Wednesday.
The federal government of Somalia has deployed heavy security forces to the town to reinforce the Southwest security forces in the election.
With four days to the election, Baidoa town has escalated the campaign for the presidency of the South West Administration for a number of candidates contesting to win the seat.
Mr Hassan Hussein Mohammed, the Minister of Security of the South West State of Somalia who spoke about the security situation in Baidoa, said that the aim of the new forces from the federal government was to reinforce and protect the possible terrorist attacks in the town during the election.
The minister added that the cooperation of the SW state and the federal government forces will be more useful in ensuring the security of the town during the election days.
The Southwest administration has before accused the federal government of direct interference and manipulation in their presidential electoral process.
