Finland Collaborates with Somalia’s Authorities to Clear Mines and Explosives
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Finland has commence a collaborative effort with federal and state-level authorities to clear mines in various parts of the country.
The project is carried out though the HALO Trust, a humanitarian landmine clearance charity which provides support for the clearance of mines and other explosives in Somalia.
The clearance initiative which aims to eliminate the danger posed by explosives and enhance public safety in Somalia and the region also involves victim assistance and risk education which are part of the integral components of the ongoing programs.
Through these programs, local communities are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to identify and avoid explosive hazards, thereby reducing the risk of accidents and casualties.
The collaborative efforts between Finland, The HALO Trust, and Somali authorities underscore a shared commitment to enhancing security and promoting stability in Somalia.
