Former Gedo governor says he was attacked by forces loyal to Farmaajo
GOOBJOOG NEWS/GARBAHAREY: Former Gedo governor, Osman Nur Haji Moalimo, has said that his house in Garbaharey was attacked in the wee hours of the night by Somali National Army soldiers.
Addressing the press in his residence, Moalimo said that forces loyal to the outgoing president, Mohamed Hussein Farmaajo were out to kill him amid a brewing storm over the 16-seat election in the Gedo region.
Moalimo further noted that all the forces in Gedo region, together with their commanders were clan-based and backed President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
In July 2021, the Somali premier Mohamed Hussein Roble, fired NISA’s deputy director Abdullahi Kulane, who is also a close relative to Farmaajo and Mogadishu’s NISA airport spy chief, for barring the former Gedo region governor from leaving Mogadishu, a move that was not taken lightly by Villa Somalia.
