Fresh fighting erupts in Galkaayo, EU envoy warns of consequences
Fresh fighting has erupted in Galkaayo barely 24 hours after the two warring factions-Galmudug and Puntland signed a ceasefire agreement.
Reports from the town say forces from both sides clashed this morning even as mediation teams were still working on components of the agreement which include the removal of troops from both sides away from the conflict zone to create a buffer-zone.
Interior Minister Abdurahman Odowaa was today expected to lead the teams in the formation of technical committee which would oversee the implementation of the peace agreement. A number of international envoys and top government officials are still in the town.

European Union envoy to Somalia Michele CervoneDurso expressed his dismay on his twitter account calling on both sides to ‘be serious and implement the agreement’. CervoneDurso warned spoilers will be held accountable.
There are no immediate reports on the casualties but sources say there is a possibility of deaths following the clash.
The agreement was signed yesterday with leaders expressing optimism the agreement would hold and lead to restoration of peace in the town. About 30 people were killed in the last week and at least 40,000 others displaced.
