Galmudug Gets new president

Galmudug presidential election supported by the federal government held in the capital Dhusamareb wins Ahmed Abdi Kariye (Qoorqoor). Galmudug Parliament speaker Mohamed Nur Ga’l announced the result and declared that Qoorqoor is the new Galmudug president.

Galmudug parliament recognized by the federal government attended the polling station with a number of 77 MPs. Presidential candidate Abdi Kariye Koororor received 66 votes out of 77 votes while Abdullahi Ahmed Samatar got 9 votes and 1 Abdirahman Aden Sabriye.

On the other hand, opposition candidate, Abraham Odawa accused the federal government of Gamudug election intervention and called on free and fear election in Galmudug.

Galmudug has now got three administrations with three presidents after the federal government broke an agreement with political stakeholders in Galmudug last year.
