GOOBJOOG NEWS|DHUSAMAREEB: Galmudug state information minister Ahmed Falagle has blamed disputes over water and pasture as the source of the conflict in Galgadud region that has left at least 20 people dead.

Falagle called the conflict between the communities of Adado and Abudwaq unfortunate in an interview with Shabelle TV.

Minister Falagle said the source of fighting in the Galgadud region stemmed from squabbles over water and grazing land, a situation exacerbated by the severe drought that has hit hard areas in the region.

The minister expressed his sympathies to the families of those who died in the fighting and wished those who were injured a quick recovery.

He further emphasized how the Galmudug administration had intervened to avert the situation by sending its forces to quell the fighting that was threatening to explode into full-scale conflict.

At least 20 people were killed on Sunday in the Dhabad district of Galgaduud following the conflict that has been raging since Saturday.
