Galmudug minister says six dead in Galgaduud fighting as tension remains high

GOOBJOOG NEWS|GALGADUUD: At least six people were killed in fighting Friday between two sub clans in Galmudug, state information minister Ahmed Falagle said noting the government had moved in to address the situation.

“It is unfortunate that there is a resurgence of clan fighting. Six people have been killed and many more injured. Galmudug has stood firm and will hold the perpetrators accountable,” Falagle said.

Fighting broke out between the two sides in Kahandhaale area of ​​Galgadud region Friday afternoon but the course of the clash was not immediately clear.

Local sources said ‘several’ people were killed and others injured in the fighting that last into Friday afternoon.

Tension still remains high amid fears of fresh fighting.
