GOOBJOOG NEWS|DHUSAMAREB: Somalia’s Galmudug state has voted to extend president Abdi Kariye QoorQoor’s term for one more term.

A total of 56 members of the Galmudug parliament held a critical meeting today in Dhusamareb city in the region of Galgaduud, and voted by show of hands to extend the term of the state’s president as his legitimate four-year term was coming to a close.

Qoorqoor now joins his South West and Jubaland counterparts both of whom have secured one year extensions.

The decision by the Galmudug parliament therefore implies that all the Federal Member States presidents will serve 5-year terms, contrary to the four-year terms they were supposed to serve.

The latest development also comes a few hours after the National Consultative Council meeting concluded in Mogadishu.
