GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: A family in the Elasha Biyaha area on the outskirts of Mogadishu is still reeling in shock after their daughter was killed by a gang who had attempted to steal a cellphone from her on Tuesday afternoon.

18 year-old Hibo Qasim had been sent by her mother to buy some supplies from the market but upon her return home, she was accosted by a gang who were after her cellphone, only to stab her severally on the throat with a knife.

An hour earlier, joy had engulfed the Qasim family after their daughter, a former student at the Iftin school, received her end of secondary school results where she had passed with flying colours, only for a blood-thirsty gang to put an end to her promising life.

Faisa Mohamed Abukar, mother to the late Hibo, has pleaded to the Somali government to work swiftly and bring justice to her innocent daughter whose life was nibbed in the bud before she could fly and help her family who saw her as a beacon of hope.
