Heavy artillery fire in Afgooye as Somali forces battle Al-Shabaab
Heavy fighting has broken out in Afgooye town, some 30 kilometres south of Mogadishu as Somali forces battle the militant group Al-Shabaab with initial reports indicating the militants have made head-ways into the town and taken over a police station.
Telecommunication lines have also been switched off cutting off the town from any communication.
The militant group had taken over a Muuri village which is located 13 outside Afgooye but there have been unconfirmed reports the Somali army had retaken the village Tuesday.
