Hobyo administration:Federal government has failed to tackle the humanitarian situation in the area
The administration of Hobyo district in Mudug region has criticized the federal government of Somalia of not doing enough to tackling the humanitarian situation in the area despite repeated appeals for assistance.
Mohamud Mohamed Awale, Hobyo district commissioner told Goobjoog FM that there many families who face desperate humanitarian crises in the area in need of immediate support.
The commissioner stated that his administration has sent appeal to the federal government has declined to take action to save the lives of the desperate people.
He added that there are people and livestock that died in areas under Hobyo district due to acute shortage of water resulting from the prolonged drought in the region and received no help from the federal government and humanitarian aid agencies.
As severe drought ravages South and Central Somalia, its reported that it has claimed the lives of many people mostly women and children.
