Jubaland Gov’t Says Three WFP/FAO Workers Injured in ‘Near-Tragic’ Boat Incident in Ras Kamaboni

GOOBJOOG NEWS|KISMAYO: Jubaland government has confirmed that three humanitarian workers from the WFP and FAO were injured in a boat incident in Ras Kamboni area on Thursday.
The Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy said the ‘near-tragic’ incident involved staff who were on a humanitarian mission in Badhaadhe and surrounding islands and were returning from Rask Kamboni ‘when the unfortunate incident happened.’
“Initial reports indicate that two serious and one mild injury,” the Ministry said in a statement. It added that the injured were moved to Mogadishu for treatment.
The nature of the incident involving two boats from the two organisations was not immediately clear and the Ministry said the cause has not yet been established.
