Kenya closes its borders with Somalia

The government of Kenya has closed its borders with Somalia, Mandera- Balad Hawo border amid security tensions caused by explosions and clan clashes.

The residents of both towns confirm to the media a good number of Kenyan soldiers were deployed at the border.

A government official in Mandera who remained anonymous as he is allowed to speak to media stated that the border was closed due increasing security threats in the region.

This closure of Kenya-Somalia border comes a time when explosion occurred in Mandera town before couple of days.

Mandera district lies in the border between Somalia and Kenya and share trade relations with its neighbouring town Bula Hawo.
