Kenya’s Ruto Fires Entire Cabinet After Weeks of Protests

GOOBJOOG NEWS | NAIROBI: Kenyan President William Ruto Thursday fired all Cabinet Secretaries and Attorney General with immediate effect.

Addressing the Nation from State House Nairobi Thursday afternoon, President Ruto said the only office that will not be affected is that of the Deputy President and Prime Cabinet Secretary.

President Ruto said he had resolved to dissolve his Cabinet “upon reflection, listening keenly to what the people of Kenya have said and after a holistic appraisal of the performance of the cabinet and its achievements and challenges.”

Ruto’s move comes following intense pressure from Kenyan’s, led by the Gen-Z movement composed of the youthful population who protested his government’s high taxes and mismanagement of public resources.
