Lower House Speaker Rubbishes Reports of Motion Against President Mohamud

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Speaker of the House of the People of the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia has officially denied reports circulating on social media that a motion against President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been submitted to the House of the People.

A statement from the Speaker of the House of the People’s Office clarified that no motion had been received and described the reports as false and baseless.

The office stressed that the official procedures of the House of the People are clear and that any motion is submitted in accordance with the laws and procedures established by the Parliament.

The statement also issued a warning to those spreading unverified news, urging the public to avoid misleading information published on social media.

This statement comes at a time when reports were circulating on social media that a motion against the President was being prepared, which has now been officially denied.
