Military commanders tour bases in Galgadud ahead of offensive against Al-Shabaab

GOOBJOOG NEWS|GALMUDUG: Senior military commanders toured several military bases in Galgadud region of Galmudug state on Friday in building up for the second phase of the military operation against Al-Shabaab.

The Deputy Commander of the Land Forces General Abdullahi Adan Hussein, the new Commander of the 21st Division of the National Army Abdi Salat Ali and his immediate predecessor Hassan Jamici inspected army bases in Wisil and Bahdo among others.

The military commanders urged their soldiers to be ready for the second phase of the offensive which according to military sources will start in areas east of Galgadud such as Elbur, Wabxo, Galhareeri and west of Hiiraan before heading south to South West and Jubaland states.

Meanwhile, President Hassan Sheikh who has been on a weeklong tour of Galmudug state is expected to launch the start of the offensive.
