Mogadishu mayor bans trucks from city between 7am and 8pm
Banaadir governor Thabit Mohamed has banned trucks from accessing Mogadishu city between 7am and 8pm failure to which offenders will be fined $435.
The governor also said in a statement trucks will not be allowed to load more than 10 tones to avoid inconveniencing other road users.
The decree comes two days after a truck blew up at Nasa Hablod II hotel in Hamarweyne district killing 27 people and injuring more than 30 others. Gun men moved into the hotel shortly after the truck exploded leading to more than 8 hours hostage situation before security forces felled the attackers.
The mayor had earlier called for responsibility and accountability following the attack. Intelligence chief Abdullahi Sanbalooshe and head of police Abdihakim Sa’id were relieved of their duties Sunday.

Another truck drove into Mogadishu from Afgooye area October 14 before bursting up in Zoope junction killing more than 400 people.
In today’s decree, the governor who also double up as mayor of Mogadishu said a three days public awareness in the media will be conducted before the decree takes effect.
