National Security advisor chairs weapons management conference in Mogadishu
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Federal Government of Somalia’s National Security Advisor Hussein Macalin today officiated the opening of the annual conference on weapons and ammunition management in Mogadishu.
The meeting is scheduled to discuss the planned removal of the arms embargo on Somalia after the government met the requisite international conditions.
“The meeting is aimed at ultimately removing the arms embargo on Somalia, which has been one of the key aspirations of the government. We have brought together all relevant agencies within the Federal Government of Somalia and the member states,” Mr. Hussein said.
During the conference, an annual government action plan will be reviewed alongside the achievements that have so far been achieved since a similar meeting that was held in March 2022.
The meeting was attended by officials from security agencies from the federal and regional levels and other security partners in the country.
