NISA forces kill 44 Al-Shabaab militants in Lower Shabelle

GOOBJOOG NEWS|LOWER SHABELLE: Somali forces alongside foreign troops killed 44 Al-Shabaab militants in the Lower Shabelle region on Saturday, a government official has said.

Deputy Information Minister Abdirahman Adala told the media that forces from the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) with ‘international partners’ backing killed the militants in Ali Fuuto location near Kurtowarey district in Lower Shabelle region.

“Our Intelligence, NISA and International Partners destroyed the terrorist strong-holds where they were regrouping at the time of the special operation”, Adala said.

The killings come barely a week after Somali Army said it killed 67 Al-Shabaab militants in Harardhere district in the central region of Mudug.
