OIC condemns attack on officials in Mogadishu

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned on Sunday recent twin bomb attacks on the Central Hotel in Mogadishu, which killed more than 25 people and injured dozens of others.
OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani described the incident as a “criminal and cowardly act” targeting worshipers, saying that the victims of bombings include top government officials, lawmakers and the Deputy Prime Minister was among those wounded.
Madani reiterated his organization’s full solidarity with the authorities in Somalia in their endeavors to combat violent extremism and terrorism, which negate the compassionate values of the noble religion of Islam, while reaffirming the principled stand of the Organization against all forms and manifestations of terrorism.
However, he urged the Somali government not to relent in its efforts to stabilize the country and restore durable peace.
Madani expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, the government and people of Somalia, while praying for the quick recovery of the injured.
