Over 30,000 candidates sit for form four exams in Somalia
GOOBJOOG NEWS|SOMALIA: The 7th round of form four national examinations in Somalia entered the second day today marking yet another milestone in efforts towards standardization of examinations and the education system in the country.
Over 35,000 students from the capital Mogadishu, HirShabelle, Galmudug, Jubbaland and South-West states are sitting for the exams which will conclude by mid of next week. In Puntland, 5708 students sat for their final exams last week but do not partake in the national exams owing to the state policy which restrictS both primary and secondary schools sitting for the Federal Government administered exams.
Banaadir region which encompasses the capital Mogadishu has 26,688 candidates followed by South West state with 4341. Others are Galmudug (2,407), HirShabelle (1671) and Jubbaland with 1,221 candidates.
This is the seventh year since the first national examinations administered by the Federal Government. The first batch of about 7,000 students sat for the nationalized exams in 2015 and that number has exponentially grown almost over the years.
The Federal Government has also standardized the curriculum with the introduction of school books produced and approved by the Ministry of Education. Most private schools however still administer their own exams but allow students to proceed and sit for the national examinations.
