Parliament Workers Unpaid For Months
Tens of parliament workers are yet to receive salaries as the government grapples with a cash crisis, which has raised tough questions about the state of fiscal management.
Hundreds of security forces, SNA soldiers and parliament workers have been affected by the problem, which has also spread to several key institutions and programmes which have been starved of cash due to delays in disbursement of funds from the Treasury, according MP Dhalha
Several months after end month, over 10,000 civil servants are yet to receive their salaries, despite the government pledges to release the payments without further delay.
Mohamed Omar Dhalha confirmed that there was a problem which had resulted in the lengthy delay of pay for tens of thousands of workers on the payrolls.
“Yes, there is a problem and it cuts across different sections including Security forces, SNA soldiers and parliament workers. Up to now they were not paid their salaries” he said.
“We really need answers. We are coming to the end of the financial year but people haven’t been paid” he added,
