PM Barre calls on Islamic scholars to support govt’s war on terror

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal Government of Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre Tuesday opened a conference on the role of Islamic Scholars on peace and reconciliation and rallying the Somali people to support the offensive against Al-shabaab.

The Prime Minister urged the scholars to play an even bigger role in supporting the government and the Somali National Army’s efforts to restore peace and stability in the country.

He further noted that the scholars have a crucial role in the constitutional review process saying, “A government without a complete constitution cannot be a government. We need to complete the draft constitution.”

He added that the government made significant progress in pushing towards debt relief and restoring crucial services to areas that have been liberated from Al-shabaab control.
