Police kills a man in Garasbaaley vicinity of Mogadishu outskirt.
The Banadir Regional Police Command said that the man killed by the police was a member of Al-Shabaab terror group, and the incident took place in the neighborhood of Tabeela Sheikh Ibrahim on the outskirts of Mogadishu.
A news piece published on the social media account of the Banadir Regional Police Command said that the police in Galasbaley shot dead a man who was attempting to kill one of them, adding that the locals tipped off the man to the police, foiling his bid to kill one of the police men in the area.
“The conspirator was planning to kill a police officer, and the information about this conspiracy facilitated the cooperation of the police force and local residents” according to a statement from the Banadir region’s general police department.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the last assassinations that occured in different swathes of Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital.
The Al-Shabaab group is facing an offensive led by the government in the country’s regions, and the government claims to have waged a total war against Al-Shabaab, including fighting in the fields of the economy, and ideology.
