President Abdiaziz holds talks with UN human rights official in Somalia, Isha Dyfan
GOOBJOOG NEWS/BAIDOA: Southwest state President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Lafta-Garen has today received in his office in the state’s capital Baidoa, UN independent expert on the situation for human rights in Somalia Isha Dyfan.
The meeting, composed of members of civil society, discussed the country’s drought situation, human rights and freedom of expression.
Isha Dydan will be in the country until 2 April 2022, where she is expected to assess, monitor and report on the situation of human rights in Somalia especially now that human rights abuses have been reported as the country goes through a tumultuous electoral process.
Dyfan, who was appointed to her current position in 2020, will then share her preliminary observations at a media conference later in the week at the UN Compound in Mogadishu.
