President Hassan Sheikh arrives in Baidoa
GOOBJOOG NEWS – BAIDOA: H. E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived in Baidoa, the interim administrative capital of South West, in his first trip out of Mogadishu since taking office on May 15.
The president is accompanied by members of the cabinet, lawmakers, the presidential envoy for drought and other officials, in a presidential tour of regional administrations dubbed the “Peace Train”.
He is expected to unveil the newly refurbished South West Presidential Palace in Baidoa and hold talks with the region’s leader, Abdiaziz Laftagareen on reconciliation, drought, and political stability, and thereafter, hold separate meetings with senior South West officials, military officials and traditional elders.
The president’s visit to Baidoa today is part of a series of trips to regional states in the country, and his next trip will be to Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug.
