President Mohamed Urges Security Graduates To Strengthen National Security and Governance

GOOBJOOG NEWS |MOGADISHU: Federal Government of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has urged more than 500 graduates of Somalia’s Higher Institute for Security and Strategic Studies (HISS) to use their training to strengthen the country’s security, stability and governance.

Speaking at their graduation ceremony in Mogadishu, the president said Somalia needs security professionals with the knowledge and skills to build stronger national institutions and respond to the country’s security challenges.

President Mohamed highlighted the importance of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) having a highly trained workforce capable of improving its operational and institutional capacity.

He also praised efforts to reform HISS, including improvements to its curriculum, training programmes and quality of education.

The graduates, drawn from three cohorts of the institute, were encouraged to put their newly acquired skills into practice as Somalia continues efforts to strengthen its security institutions and combat militant groups, including Al-Shabab and Islamic State.

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, NISA leadership, lawmakers, instructors and other guests.
