President Mohamud in Dubai for the Climate Change Conference
GOOBJOOG NEWS | DUBAI: Federal Republic of Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is in Dubai, United Arab Emirates for the World Climate Change Conference (COP28).
The conference which aims to accelerate the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and to enhance the global response to the threat of climate change brings together world leaders, experts, and activists.
The president is expected to outline the devastating impact of climate change to the Somali people who have been impacted by floods caused by the ongoing El Niño rains pounding several parts of the country.
President Mohamud is also expected to appeal to the international community to support the government’s efforts to offer much needed humanitarian assistance to the affected people.
The president is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with various global leaders and partners to support Somalia’s the government’s security and development plans aimed at restoring the country to a stable and prosperous path.
