GOOBJOOG NEWS | DHUUSAMAREEB: Federal government of Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has inaugurated the first phase of a major road construction project and a new Green Monument in Dhuusamareeb, as the federal government seeks to accelerate urban development and infrastructure investment in Galmudug.

President Mohamud, accompanied by Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Karie, officially opened the projects during his visit to the regional capital.

The president praised the Galmudug administration for overseeing the road project and ensuring that construction followed planned timelines, quality requirements and technical standards.

He said the new infrastructure would improve movement within Dhuusamareeb and support local economic activity, describing the projects as an important step in the city’s urban development.

President Mohamud also acknowledged the World Bank and Somalia’s Ministry of Public Works for their role in planning, financing and implementing the projects.

The road development comes as Dhuusamareeb, the capital of Galmudug, seeks to expand basic infrastructure and improve public services amid broader efforts to strengthen government institutions and economic activity in central Somalia.

The president urged residents to protect the newly completed infrastructure and support continued development across the region.

He also praised Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Karie for what he described as a lasting contribution to the region, saying the projects would form part of his legacy.

The inauguration was held during president Mohamud’s wider visit to Galmudug, where he has been meeting officials and communities and highlighting the federal government’s efforts to expand security, public services and development projects across the state.
