President Mohamud Meets Turkish Foreign Minister in Ankara

GOOBJOOG NEWS | ANKARA : Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Monday met the Turkish foreign affairs minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara, Turkey.

According to a statement from the Villa Somalia presidential palace, the two discussed issues of mutual interest and joint efforts to promote regional stability and prosperity.

“The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E Hakan Fidan in Ankara. They discussed issues of mutual interest and joint efforts to promote regional stability and prosperity,” the statement reads.

The meeting comes amid continued improved relations between Somalia and Turkey which has seen the Turkish state sending a naval ship to boost security in the Somali coastline and train the Somali naval officers.

Turkey also has strong historical ties with Somalia on the principle of “win-win” relations, including more than 150 development aid projects carried out by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) since 2011.
