Profile: Boundaries and Federalisation Commission Chairman, Khalif Abdikarim
The newly elected Chairman of Boundaries and Federalisation Commission, Khalif Abdikarim Mohamed was born in 1963 in Gedo region and has had a history both as a teacher and public servant in Somalia.
He attended Tadamun Islamic Institute in between 1987 and 1995 before joining Mogadishu University in 2001 to 2004 where he studied Sharia and Law.
Khalif has worked as a school teacher and also a teacher in the Mosque.
In 2009 he was elected a member of parliament in the then Transitional Federal Government, a position he served in until 2012. In the same period, he became a member of the Committee on Religious matters in parliament until 2012.
He was appointed Minister of Trade and Industrialisation in 2011 and served for a year.
On July 26, 2015 the commission elected him as the first Chairman of the Boundaries and Federalisation Commission where he will oversee all issues regarding the federalization process and boundaries in Somalia.
