Prominent businessman killed in Mogadishu barely a day after another is killed

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Armed men shot dead a traditional elder known as Sheikh Abdi Fanine, on Friday night  in Mogadishu’s Heliwa district.

Witnesses said the gunmen shot at the prominent businessman at point blank before fleeing the scene of murder.

Last night’s killing is the second high profile assassination in Mogadishu in less than 25hrs. Sheikh Salad Isse who is a businessman was also killed on Saturday night in Yaqshid district.

No group has claimed responsibility for both killings.

Police who arrived at the scene of the murder said they would start investigations soon to unravel the mystery behind the killings that have sparked fear among Mogadishu residents.
