Protests in Galkaayo after ex-SNA chief Indha Qarshe is barred from parliamentary race

GOOBJOOG NEWS/DHUSAMAREB: Protests  are underway in Galkayo against the denial of Major General Dahir Adan Elmi from contesting for the HOP#020 seat by the Galmudug State Electoral body allegedly under the instructions of the State President Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor.

The former Commander of the Armed Forces Major General Dahir Aden Elmi (Indha Qarshe), had earlier on held a press conference stating that he was not allowed to run for the HOP#020 seat which was reserved for women.

Candidate Adan Elmi said the denial to run for the seat by the Qoorqoor administration had come as a rude shock, as he had served the country and the people of Somalia for many years. 

In his parting statement, Qarshe called on the Somali Prime Minister and the various electoral commissions to suspend the election for HOP020, pending a final settlement of the dispute.
