Puntland Forces Display Weapons, Drugs Siezed in Recent Operation
GOOBJOOG NEWS | GAROWE: Security forces in Puntland state Sunday displayed an assortment of weapons and drugs sized during a recent operation in Garowe.
According to Abdirahman Haji Abshir, the Nugan region governor, one civilian died and two other people injured during the operation.
“We arrested the four notorious criminals causing trouble in the city last night, and they will be brought to justice,” said Governor Abdirahman Abshir.
Governor Abshir said security forces in the area had cleared illegal weapons in Garowe, the administrative capital of the Puntland state.
On Saturday, security officers in the state arrested two Somali nationals; Imraan Mohamed Alawi and Mabruuk Nassor Saidi suspected to be linked to the ISIS terror organization.
The two are believed to have survived a US airstrike last week in northern Somalia.
They were arrested 30 km away from the area where the airstrike was carried out, following a tip-off and subsequent pursuit by the Puntland security forces.
