Puntland Police Arrest Prisoner on Death Row who Escaped Galkayo Prison

GOOBJOOG NEWS | GALKAYO: Security forces in Puntland State Saturday said they had re-arrested a prisoner, who is among death row convicts who had escaped from Galkayo prison.

Barkhad Awil Hirsi and others who were facing various criminal charges including murders and bombings and were facing executions when they escaped.

In a statement, the Puntland Regional Government Police said security forces were still pursuing three other fugitives adding that a reward had had been offered for the individual who provided the information that led to Hirsi’s arrest.

“The Puntland Police Force have arrested Barkhad Awil Hirsi, one of the four prisoners who escaped from Galkayo prison who belonged to a terrorist organization and were facing murder charges,” the statement reads.

He added that the remaining three fugitives include; Abdiqani Saleeban Jama (Saylor), Abdullahi Faisal Hussein (Abujonge) and Abdirahman Awal Mohamed (Sigayste)”.
