Saudi charity excellence awards in spotlight
JEDDAH: Philanthropy has always played a crucial role in Saudi society. The Saudi philanthropic sector is focusing more on the elimination of social problems, not only the suffering caused by those problems. The big question now to be asked is: How can we maximize the effect of philanthropy in the Kingdom?
“We have Vision 2030, which gives more say to civil society in shaping the future of the Kingdom,” said Dr. Hasan bin Shraim, head of the supervising committee of the Charity Excellence Awards. “Institutionalization and quality assurance of the local philanthropic sector are the key factors to maximize its social impact so that the sector helps reach the long-term development goals of Vision 2030.”
The third version of the awards was launched recently in Jeddah.
The three-category awards come as part of Al Subaie Foundation initiatives. The categories include “Best Charity Organization,” “Best Charitable Project” and “Best Creative Idea.”
The awards share the same goals as Vision 2030, which helps to improve charitable and philanthropic work dramatically.
The goals include spreading the culture of quality assurance in the philanthropic work, raising the bar of institutionalized work, encouraging healthy competition, adopting innovation and continuous learning.
“The third version of the award has been improved. All entries can be submitted electronically. Interested participants are encouraged to apply online at sea.sa,” said Amjad Al-Tuwairesh, executive director of the awards.
“The website includes all the details regarding the timelines, selection process, areas of interest, and everything related to the awards.”
