Several Families Displaced by Floods at Beledweyne Town

GOOBJOOG NEWS | BELEDWEYNE: Several families have been displaced by floods at Beledweyne town, Hiran region due to ongoing heavy rains.

Worst affected areas are the Raderka and Kutiimbo within Koshin neighborhood where have been submerged and properties destroyed, leaving residents in dire need of emergency assistance.

“We were caught off guard as water rushed in from all directions, filling our homes within minutes. With no time to spare, I quickly placed my children on the roof for safety. It was a moment of prayer and desperation,” a resident from the Kutiimbo neighborhood said.

The ongoing displacement has forced families to seek refuge in safer areas, such as Eljale, amid fears of further flooding as the Shabelle River faces as risk of breaking its banks.
