Six MPs elected in Barawe today
GOOBJOOG NEWS/BARAWE: The South West State Electoral Implementation Committee has today concluded elections for six seats held in the House of the People in the coastal city of Barawe.
Ali Mohamed Sheikh,the State Minister for Defense won the first seat, HOP#250 which was previously held by Mohamed Said Abdullahi. Sheikh received 80 votes , trouncing Abdalla Mohamed Sharif who received 17 votes.
Seat HOP#160, previously held by Nur Sidow Baaba was won by Mohamed Yusuf Hassan with 73 votes, while his rival Ali Abukar Mohamed received 12 votes.
The third seat, HOP#173 previously held by Osman Haji Ali was won by Abdifatah Abdullahi Araye, who received 73 votes while his rival Abduwahab Ali Ahmed received 16 votes.
The fourth seat HOP#080, was won by Aweys Hussein Maalim, who received 76 votes, while his rival, Mohamed Osman Jibril received 20 votes.
Jawahir Adawe Abdi defended his seat by winning HOP#155 after he received 76 votes while his rival contender, Mariya Mohamed got 14 votes.
The sixth and final seat, previously occupied by Hassan Osman Hussein (Qoryooley) was won by Abdikadir Abdirahman Dhuure who got 85 votes, while his rival Mohamed Ali Ibrahim received 5 votes.
The voting process in the city of Barawe went on without hitches today compared to yesterday, where mortar shells rocked the town leading to the death of four people and a halt to the voting process for a while.
