GOOBJOOG NEWS|CENTRAL SOMALIA: The Somali National Army (SNA) is ramping up operations in parts of Galgadud and Middle Shabelle regions as it winds up the first phase of the operations before heading south for phase two which will incorporate additional forces from neighbouring countries.

Military officials who spoke to Goobjoog News said the army was deploying in Adalle and Eldheer districts in Middle Shabelle and Galgadud regions respectively. The SNA has also bolstered deployments in Elbur, Wabho and Galhareeri.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is expected to pitch tent this week in Dhusamareb as part of the Federal Government’s confidence-building efforts. Clan militias under the Ma’awisley umbrella have been instrumental in reinforcing SNA and state government troops in the war against Al-Shabaab since the joint campaign started last July.

Kenya, Djibouti and Ethiopia are expected to deploy additional 20,000 troops to fight alongside Somali Security Forces in the second part of the operation targeting Jubaland and South West states.
