GOOBJOOG NEWS | BARAAWE: The Somali National Army has donated medical supplies and medicines to Baraawe General Hospital in Lower Shabelle region, in a move aimed at supporting healthcare services and improving patient care.

The supplies were handed over to the Baraawe district administration for use at the town’s main hospital, helping address its basic medical needs and strengthen the services available to patients.

The donation was made on the orders of Somali National Army Chief, Major General Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud, as part of the military’s efforts to support local communities and essential public services.

The move follows a recent visit by Major General Mohamud to Baraawe, during which he inspected the town’s hospital, police station, regional administration headquarters and other public facilities. He also met local residents and received briefings on security conditions and the delivery of public services.

Baraawe, the administrative capital of South West State, is a strategically located coastal town in Lower Shabelle, a region where government forces continue to face security challenges posed by Al-Shabaab. The army has been engaging local authorities and communities as part of efforts to strengthen security and cooperation in the area.

The donation also comes amid wider pressure on Somalia’s health system, with conflict, displacement, disease outbreaks and limited access to healthcare continuing to affect communities across the country.
