SNA Forces Conduct Operation to Clear Roads in Southwest State

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The federal government of Somalia’s armed forces backed by the Deravishes of the South West administration Saturday conducted a massive operation to clear roads in Bay, Bakool and Gedo regions.

The joint operation by the national forces targeted Al-shabaab hideouts in the regions in a bid to liberate the areas and restore peace for the residents.

According to an official statement issued by the Federal Government, the troops managed to liberate several areas in the region and destroyed the militant group’s bases and roadblocks used to extort money from vehicles using roads in the regions.

The statement added that the main aim of this operation was to ensure the security and the safety of the roads connecting Bay, Bakool and Gedo regions, where they said that sometimes the group used to extort money from travelers.
