SNA repulses Al-Shabaab assault on military base in newly liberated village in Galgadud

GOOBJOOG NEWS|GALGADUD: The Somali Armed Forces Monday morning a terrorist attack launched by Al-Shabaab fighters on a military base housing national troops and local fighters in the recently liberated Qayib village of Galgadud.

Speaking to state agency SONNALIVE, Defense Ministry spokesperson Abdullahi Ali Anod said the army delivered a huge blow to the militants, who were forced to retreat.

Residents had reported sighting heavily armed Al-Shabaab militants entering the village and thereafter hearing explosions from the army base. Casualties have been reported, although the exact number cannot be verified at the moment as information is still sketchy.
