SoDMA warns of severe weather changes as El-Nino rains approach
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somalia Disaster Management Authority (SoDMA) has said it is adequately prepared to tackle the extreme weather conditions brought about by the expected El-Nino rains.
The announcement was made when Banadir Regional Governor and Mayor of Mogadishu Yusuf Hussein Jimaale visited the SoDMA headquarters Thursday to access the department’s preparedness to respond to emergency cases thwt might be brought about by the rains.
SoDMA’s director Mohamud Macallim Abdulle who received the Governor outlined the emergency response measures the department has put in place warning that the changing
weather patterns could result in flooding in various parts of the country.
The visit by the Governor underscores the gravity of the issue and the need for close cooperation between government agencies and emergency response groups in ensuring the safety of the Somali people.
