Somali Army Chief Calls for Greater Naval Readiness After Navy Headquarters Visit

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Army Chief Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud has called for stronger cooperation, discipline and operational readiness within the Somali Navy following a working visit to the force’s headquarters in Mogadishu.

Mohamud was briefed by senior naval commanders and officers on the Navy’s ongoing operations, performance and efforts to strengthen its capacity to carry out its national responsibilities.

The visit focused on assessing the Navy’s operational situation and identifying areas requiring greater coordination and improved performance, the Somali National Army said.

Mohamud urged the Navy leadership and officers to strengthen internal cooperation and maintain a high level of preparedness, stressing the importance of effective coordination in carrying out assigned duties.

He also visited the Horseed Club Sports Complex, where he reviewed activities at the facility and its role in promoting sports and community engagement.

The visit comes as Somalia continues efforts to strengthen its security institutions and develop the capacity of its armed forces to assume greater responsibility for national security.
